Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing or using CheckMate ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not install or use the App. The App is provided by NerdLabs ("we", "our", "us").

2. Description of Service

CheckMate is a Shopify app that adds terms acceptance checkboxes and age verification to the Shopify checkout using Checkout Extensibility. The App provides server-side validation of customer consent before order completion.

3. Eligibility

You must have an active Shopify store and agree to Shopify's Terms of Service to use CheckMate. You are responsible for ensuring your use of the App complies with all applicable laws.

4. Subscription & Billing

CheckMate costs $4.99 per month, billed through Shopify.
A 7-day free trial is included. You will not be charged during the trial period.
After the trial, your Shopify account will be billed monthly unless you uninstall the App.
All billing is handled by Shopify. We do not process payments directly.

5. Your Responsibilities

You are responsible for the legal text you configure in CheckMate (terms, disclaimers, age requirements).
CheckMate provides the mechanism for consent collection — it does not constitute legal advice.
You should consult a legal professional to ensure your terms and age verification requirements comply with applicable laws.

6. Limitation of Liability

CheckMate is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, NerdLabs shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to loss of revenue, legal claims, or regulatory penalties.

7. No Legal Advice

CheckMate is a software tool, not a legal service. We do not provide legal advice, and the App's features should not be interpreted as legal guidance. You are solely responsible for your compliance obligations.

8. Availability & Changes

We may update, modify, or discontinue features of the App at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of significant changes. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

9. Termination

You may stop using CheckMate at any time by uninstalling it from your Shopify store. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms or Shopify's Terms of Service.

10. Intellectual Property

CheckMate and all associated branding, code, and documentation are the property of NerdLabs. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute any part of the App.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in accordance with applicable law.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
