1. Introduction

CheckMate ("we", "our", "us") is a Shopify app developed by NerdLabs that provides checkout terms acceptance and age verification for Shopify merchants using Checkout Extensibility. This privacy policy explains how we handle data.

2. Data We Collect

Store configuration: Your app settings including checkbox text, age verification thresholds, and custom legal text. Stored in our database to power the app.
Acceptance records: Timestamps of terms acceptance stored as Shopify order metafields. These are written to your Shopify store and governed by Shopify's privacy policy.
Session data: Shopify session tokens required for app authentication.

3. Data We Do NOT Collect

CheckMate does not collect, store, or process:

Customer names, emails, or contact information
Payment or billing information
Browsing behavior or tracking data
IP addresses of your customers
Any personally identifiable information (PII) of your customers

4. How We Use Data

We use collected data solely to:

Display and enforce your configured checkout requirements
Provide the app's functionality and customer support

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third parties. Your configuration is only accessible to you through the CheckMate admin.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data while CheckMate is installed. On uninstall, session data is deleted. On a shop redaction request from Shopify or a direct request from you, we delete all data associated with your store.

7. Data Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored on secure servers following industry-standard practices.

8. GDPR Compliance

CheckMate supports Shopify's mandatory GDPR webhooks:

Customer data request/erasure: We don't store customer personal data, so there is nothing to export or erase.
Shop data erasure: All store data is deleted upon request.

9. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the app.
